Biography
Jenna Deutch is a sophomore from Olney, MD studying psychology and criminology at the University of Maryland. Her interests include painting, playing the piano, and writing poetry. She aims to help others find ways to combat their anxiety using these art forms, as they are calming and expressive. Her paintings are of nature because that is where she finds herself at peace the majority of the time. Her piano playing and poetry communicate to others the deep emotions she holds in. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and criminology, she plans to get her doctorate degree in psychology in order to better serve the public and help with mental health in people of all ages.

As a College Park Arts Scholar, Jenna intends to explore her art interests through her culminating Capstone project to be completed in her sophomore year. She is thrilled to take advantage of the 2020 year to influence her perspective on the world. She is looking forward to continue serving as a coordinator for the tutoring program called Lakeland STARs through the university’s Scholars program as well as being a peer mentor for the Arts Scholars program. She hopes to excel with both programs, albeit remotely, to help the kids as much as possible. Her academic goals include developing more skills in order to work in the field of forensic psychology.
